Docent-guided tours encourage close observation through evidence-based inquiry to develop visual literacy and critical thinking skills in students of all ages. Our school tours are designed in connection with the New York State Learning Standards.

We welcome groups of all ages and interests and will work with you to customize your tour and make suggestions based on your interests. Below is a sample of possible group tour themes.
Highlights Of Museum - Explore artworks in the Museum's collection of Victorian American (1800s) Decorative Arts, American Fine Art of the 1800s to today, and European Modernism.
Meet Me @ MWP (Senior Groups) - Assisted living centers and individuals with dementia and their care partners or family members are encouraged to take part in this special program led by museum educators that features small-group gallery conversations with optional art-making opportunities.
Special Exhibition Private Tours - Get a closer look at our special exhibitions with a private docent-led tour developed exclusively for your group

Regularly scheduled public tours for special exhibitions are free with exhibition admission. Free public tours are also available throughout the year. Use the calendar to find a tour that fits your schedule.
Family Packs - Let the young ones lead the tour using interactive cards to search for the artworks, and enjoy the tips, questions, and activities based on art in the galleries. Request a pack at the Museum Reception desk, or download them here.
Audio and Smartphone Guides - Choose your own adventure! Borrow a free Acoustiguide device or use your own phone to download the MWP Museum of Art Mobile Guide. You'll hear from curators and artists and view related material to enhance your tour. To access the guide, follow the easy steps on labels where the guide is available. The free devices can be picked up at the Museum Reception desk.
