The Statue of Liberty from Bartholdi to Warhol explores the enduring relevance of Lady Liberty in American visual culture. Featuring more than 70 artists, the exhibition traces the evolution of the Statue of Liberty’s image from artistic muse and pop-culture icon to a powerful symbol of immigration, patriotism, and resistance. The exhibition is anchored by a rare bronze reduction of Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi’s Liberty Enlightening the World (Statue of Liberty) Organized by the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth and the Denver Art Museum, Munson will be the exhibition’s only Northeast venue.
